Stop the water first.

If water is escaping right now, the first minutes matter more than the appointment. Here is what to do before anyone arrives, and what happens after.

Before we get there

Find the main shutoff and close it. In most homes here it is where the supply enters — a garage wall, a crawlspace hatch, a utility room, or a meter box near the street curb. If you do not know where yours is, find it on a calm day, not a wet one.

Keep away from standing water near outlets or a panel, and if water is anywhere near electrical service, kill the power at the breaker if it is safe to reach. If it is not safe to reach, leave it and tell us when you call.

What we prioritize

Active escaping water, total loss of supply, and sewage backing up into the house come first. We will tell you on the phone whether we are the fastest option. If we are two hours out and the water is running, we will help you isolate it and point you to whoever is closer instead of holding the slot.

A frozen line that has not yet split is a genuine emergency in the hour before it thaws. If you have no flow on a cold morning and can hear nothing, that is worth a call before the temperature comes up.

Afterwards

Once the water is stopped, the repair is a normal job with a normal scope and a normal price. We do not price the repair off the panic.

Where we do this

Emergency across Tacoma, Lakewood, Puyallup, Gig Harbor, University Place, Federal Way and the surrounding South Sound.

Common questions

Where is my main shutoff likely to be?

Where the supply enters the building — commonly a garage wall, crawlspace, or utility room, and otherwise at the meter near the street. Find and label it before you need it.

A pipe is frozen but has not burst. What should I do?

Open the nearest faucet so melt has somewhere to go, warm the run gently along its length — never with a flame — and have the main shutoff within reach. Splits usually reveal themselves as the ice releases.

Do you charge more for emergency calls?

There is an after-hours rate and it is quoted before we come. The repair itself is priced the same as it would be on a Tuesday morning.
